Both the G90 and E-Class Sedan have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The G90 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The E-Class Sedan’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The G90 has standard Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-Whiplash Front Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the G90. But it costs extra on the E-Class Sedan.

The G90’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the E-Class Sedan.

Both the G90 and the E-Class Sedan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Genesis G90 weighs 452 to 1015 pounds more than the Mercedes E-Class Sedan. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety does 40 MPH moderate front offset crash tests on new cars. In this updated test, results indicate that the G90 is safer than the E-Class Sedan:

The Genesis G90 achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2025 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated moderate overlap front crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The E-Class Sedan is not a “Top Safety Pick” for 2025.

The G90 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The E-Class Sedan’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the G90 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the E-Class Sedan. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the E-Class Sedan ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The G90’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the E-Class Sedan’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the G90 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the E-Class Sedan.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 22 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

Power ranks Genesis higher than Mercedes.

The G90 3.5T’s standard 3.5 turbo V6 produces 120 more horsepower (375 vs. 255) and 96 lbs.-ft. more torque (391 vs. 295) than the E 350 Sedan’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The G90 3.5T’s 3.5 turbo V6 produces 22 lbs.-ft. more torque (391 vs. 369) than the E 450 Sedan’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid. The G90 3.5T e-SC’s standard 3.5 turbo/supercharged V6 hybrid produces 34 more horsepower (409 vs. 375) and 36 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 369) than the E 450 Sedan’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Car and Driver the G90 3.5T e-SC 3.5 turbo/supercharged V6 hybrid is faster than the E 350 Sedan 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Genesis G90 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The E-Class Sedan requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The G90 has 1.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the E-Class Sedan (19.3 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the G90 has larger tires than the E-Class Sedan (F:245/45R20 & R:275/40R20 vs. 225/55R18).

The G90 3.5T’s standard 245/45R20 front and 275/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the E-Class Sedan’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the G90 3.5T has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the E-Class Sedan.

The G90 3.5T has a standard space-saver spare (not available on 3.5T e-SC) so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the E-Class Sedan; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the E-Class Sedan don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the G90’s wheelbase is 8.6 inches longer than on the E-Class Sedan (125.2 inches vs. 116.6 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the G90 is 1.1 inches wider in the front and .7 inches wider in the rear than on the E-Class Sedan.

The G90’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50.6% to 49.4%) than the E-Class Sedan’s (54% to 46%). This gives the G90 more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the G90 3.5T’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the E 450 Sedan’s (37.1 feet vs. 38.1 feet).

The front grille of the G90 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The G90 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the G90 a Large car, while the E-Class Sedan is rated a Mid-size.

The G90 has 9.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the E-Class Sedan (109.2 vs. 100).

The G90 3.5T e-SC’s power side swing out doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the car. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer a power rear door.

The G90 has standard front air conditioned seats and the G90 3.5T e-SC also has them in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The G90 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the E-Class Sedan.

The G90 has standard massaging front seats. Massaging front seats cost extra on the E-Class Sedan. The G90 3.5T e-SC also has standard massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the E-Class Sedan.

Both the Genesis G90 and the Mercedes E-Class Sedan have a standard Qi wireless phone charging system in the front seat. To easily keep personal devices charged in the rear seat, without cables tangling and wearing out, the G90 3.5T e-SC also has a standard wireless charging system in the rear seat. The E-Class Sedan does not.
