Compare the2025 Mercedes AMG GLEVS 2025 Lamborghini Urus

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the AMG GLE are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Urus doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Mercedes AMG GLE has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Urus doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The AMG GLE has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Urus doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The AMG GLE offers optional Post-Collision Brake, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Urus doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The AMG GLE has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Urus doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from other vehicles.

Both the AMG GLE and the Urus have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available lane departure warning systems.

The Mercedes AMG GLE (with optional crash prevention) has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2025 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The Urus has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2025.

The AMG GLE comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Urus’ 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

There are over 9 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the AMG GLE’s warranty.

The AMG GLE 63 S’ 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 590) than the Urus SE’s optional 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the AMG GLE gets better mileage than the Urus running its gasoline engine:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the AMG GLE 63 S’ fuel efficiency. The Urus doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes AMG GLE, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Urus.

The AMG GLE’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Urus doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

The AMG GLE 53 is 6.9 inches shorter than the Urus S, making the AMG GLE easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The AMG GLE offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Urus can only carry up to 5.

The AMG GLE has .4 inches more front shoulder room, .9 inches more rear legroom and 1.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the Urus.

The AMG GLE has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Urus with its rear seat up (33.3 vs. 21.8 cubic feet). The AMG GLE has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Urus with its rear seat folded (74.9 vs. 56.4 cubic feet).

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the AMG GLE’s optional second row seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Urus doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The AMG GLE has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Urus doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The AMG GLE’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Urus’ cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the AMG GLE to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Urus doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the AMG GLE has a standard rear wiper. The Urus doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the AMG GLE has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Urus doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Mercedes AMG GLE has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The Urus doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The AMG GLE has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Urus doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Mercedes GLE outsold the Lamborghini Urus by almost 32 to one during 2024.
