The Flying Spur’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Emeya doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Bentley Flying Spur are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Lotus Emeya doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Bentley Flying Spur has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Emeya doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Flying Spur has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Emeya doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Flying Spur has standard Maneuver Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Emeya doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Flying Spur helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then projects the image on the windshield, near the driver’s line of sight. The Emeya doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Flying Spur and the Emeya have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Flying Spur comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car. The Emeya’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The Flying Spur comes with free roadside assistance for 3 years unlimited miles. Bentley will send help if you run out of gas, need a jump-start, lock your keys in or need any assistance on the road. Lotus doesn’t give free roadside assistance for the Emeya.

The Flying Spur SPEED’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 168 more horsepower (771 vs. 603) than the Emeya’s standard electric motors. The Flying Spur SPEED’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 12 lbs.-ft. more torque (738 vs. 726) than the Emeya R’s standard electric motors.

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Bentley Flying Spur, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a 2-speed automatic is available for the Emeya.

The Flying Spur offers an available sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Emeya doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

For better traction, the Flying Spur has larger tires than the Emeya (F:275/35R22 & R:315/30R22 vs. F:255/45R20 & R:285/40R20). The Flying Spur’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Emeya (F:275/35R22 & R:315/30R22 vs. F:265/40R21 & R:305/35R21).

The Flying Spur’s 275/35R22 front and 315/30R22 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Emeya’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Flying Spur has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the Emeya.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Flying Spur’s wheelbase is 4.9 inches longer than on the Emeya (125.7 inches vs. 120.8 inches).

With its sedan body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the Flying Spur offers cargo security. The Emeya’s hatchback body style and non-lockable folding seat defeat cargo security.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Flying Spur to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Emeya doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

A power rear sunshade and rear side window sunshades are standard in the Flying Spur to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Emeya doesn’t offer a rear or rear side window sunshades.

The Flying Spur has standard massaging front seats. Massaging front seats cost extra on the Emeya. The Flying Spur also has standard massaging rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Emeya.
