The Flying Spur’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the Flying Spur and Quattroporte have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Flying Spur has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Quattroporte’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Bentley Flying Spur has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

The Flying Spur has a standard Multi-collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Flying Spur has standard Maneuver Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Flying Spur helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then projects the image on the windshield, near the driver’s line of sight. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Flying Spur and Quattroporte have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Flying Spur has Reversing Traffic Warning (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Quattroporte’s Rear Cross Path doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Flying Spur and the Quattroporte have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Bentley Flying Spur weighs 1600 pounds more than the Maserati Quattroporte. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Flying Spur comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Quattroporte’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The Flying Spur’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Quattroporte’s (unlimited vs. 50,000 miles).

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Flying Spur’s reliability 20 points higher than the Quattroporte.

The Flying Spur’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 347 more horsepower (771 vs. 424) and 310 lbs.-ft. more torque (738 vs. 428) than the Quattroporte’s 3.0 turbo V6.

The Flying Spur SPEED can travel with zero emissions for 47 miles. The Quattroporte can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Flying Spur (except Hybrid)’s fuel efficiency. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Flying Spur Hybrid’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Flying Spur offers an available sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Flying Spur has standard 22-inch wheels. Only 21-inch wheels are available on the Quattroporte.

The Flying Spur has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Flying Spur uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Quattroporte, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Flying Spur offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Maserati doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Quattroporte.

The Flying Spur has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Flying Spur’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Flying Spur is 1.5 inches wider in the front and .7 inches wider in the rear than on the Quattroporte.

The Flying Spur has .6 inches more front headroom and .9 inches more rear headroom than the Quattroporte.

With its sedan body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the Flying Spur offers cargo security. The Quattroporte’s non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Quattroporte, the Flying Spur has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Flying Spur offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the Flying Spur the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Quattroporte can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Flying Spur’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Go standard on the Quattroporte doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Flying Spur has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Quattroporte.

The Flying Spur has standard massaging front and rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Quattroporte.

The Flying Spur’s Intelligent Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Quattroporte doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
